We all know that fast food isn’t the healthiest. But what do you do when it’s your only option? Whether you’re on a road trip or didn’t have time to fix something before picking up the kids sometimes the drive-thru just has to suffice. Thankfully most fast food restaurants have caught up with the times and are now offering healthier options. Here are my top picks at the three biggest chains:
McDonalds Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich. With 37g of protein, 44g of carbs and only 6g of fat this sandwich will fill you up without wrecking your diet. Need something lower in carbs? The Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad has only 27g of carbs with 37g of protein and 12g of fat.
Burger King Tendergrill Chicken Sandwich (no mayo) has 32g of protein and 35g of carbs with only 6g of fat. A much better option than a Whopper.
Wendy’s wins the gold star from me. They’ve seriously upped their salad game. The two best options are the Summer Berry Chicken Salad and The Power Mediterranean Chicken Salad. Both are packed with protein and fiber with 15g of fat or less. If you need smaller portions they both come in half sizes.
Did you know they also have baked potatoes? Definitely a healthier option than French fries. Just make sure to get it without any butter or sour cream. Like McDonald’s and Burger King, Wendy’s also has a grilled chicken sandwich that’s high in protein and lower in fat.
So next time you’re in a rush remember that even the drive-thru can fit your diet.
