I get it. There’s so much information out there it’s difficult to sort out what’s right and what will actually work. You get caught up in a vicious cycle of dieting and overeating. Leaving you frustrating and wondering ‘why can’t I just be more disciplined and stick with the plan?’

The problem isn’t you. Read that again, the problem is NOT you. The problem is the program. The issue with most weight loss programs is they’re designed for short term weight loss, not long term fat loss.

Quick fix solutions, low-calorie diets, and excessive cardio are setting you up for failure. 

The truth is, the solution for long-term fat loss isn’t really complicated, it just doesn’t get as much attention as quick fixes and trendy new workout routines. That’s because the best way to lasting fat loss isn’t glamorous, it isn’t quick, and there’s no magic pill. But it’s absolutely worth it.

The key to long-term fat loss is changing your habits and your mindset. If you truly want to see change, then you must change what you do day in and day out as well as how you think and view things.

Why work with me?

My approach is unique to that of other trainers and coaches. Not only do I have more than a decade of experience as a Personal Trainer, but I’m also a Certified Nutrition Coach. While that might sound like a fancy way of saying nutritionist, and to some extent it is, what I really do is coach women to not only look amazing but to feel amazing, inside and out. Think of me as a Personal Trainer and Life Coach rolled into one.

I don’t just give out workout programs and send you on your way. While I can, and will, kick your butt (unless that’s not your goal, that’s cool too), I also want to ensure that your results last long after you achieve your initial goal.

Because I don’t just want you to look awesome, I want you to feel awesome. And that requires doing some work outside the gym.

My goal is to help every woman I work with look and feel like the badass Superhero she is.

In late 2009, a good friend invited me to join her and her family on weekly hikes in and around the Canyon Country/Santa Clarita area. I thought it would be fun so I agreed. The first few hikes were nothing too difficult. You would work up a sweat but they were not particularly challenging in any way. Then came The Big One. I’m going to call it that because I can’t for the life of me remember the actual name of the trail. It was a grueling 8 mile hike with a steady, steep incline. I knew I could stand to lose a few pounds, but it was clear that day that I was not aware of HOW out of shape I was. I made the decision to do something about it and I’m glad I did because that is how I met Melissa.

Melissa, from day one, made me feel very comfortable. She never judged or scolded me for my bad habits. She listened to what I had (or had not) been doing and crafted a program around that level of fitness. She didn’t go all “Biggest Loser” on me and make me do something that would cause me to pass out or, even worse, throw up. She didn’t yell at me or force me to do anything I was incapable of doing. She knew my limits and pushed me to those limits. She would not let me give up – even when I was convinced I would be. I’m so glad she did because I’m sure I would.

Melissa is also aware that it takes more than a good exercise plan to lose weight. We had been training for a while and I was depressed – I was working out daily, but I wasn’t losing as much weight as I thought I would. Then she asked me the most obvious question – what are you eating? I never really thought about it before. Calorie counting was completely foreign to me. She gave me a food journal and a plan and said that, in order to be successful, a good diet was necessary. I’m not going to lie and say it was a piece of cake. It wasn’t. It was hard to change years of bad habits, but with her support, I was able to push through. And, wouldn’t you know, after sticking with the diet and exercise plan, I was starting to notice a change. My husband likes to say that the amount ofclothes I bought only to donate has kept Goodwill in business.

2 years later, I am still with Melissa and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve lost 35lbs and am wearing clothes I never thought I would be able to squeeze into without the help of a crowbar. We are having a great time with her “evil” programs that have made me much strong and more toned. I look forward to many more years of her butt kicking.  🙂

FAQ’s

Q: I’m just looking to lose a bit of weight, I’m really not into the whole ‘coaching’ thing. Can I still apply?

A: Honestly, I’m not the right coach for you right now. While I would love to work with you, it sounds like my coaching style doesn’t quite fit what you’re looking for. And that’s okay, I’m not the right coach for everyone. But I’m not going to take your hard earned money if I don’t feel I can truly help you.

 

Q: I’m happy with my weight, but I know my nutrition could be better. I really just want a coach to help me make better nutrition choices?

A: Absolutely! Nutrition coaching is not necessarily about weight loss. Wanting to make better nutritional choices to fuel your life is a great reason to seek out coaching.

 

Q: What if I’m looking for a life coach?

A: While I’m not a Certified Life Coach, my nutrition coaching certification was a year-long intensive in coaching, focusing mainly on habits and mindset, not all pertaining to nutrition. Since every program is tailored to each client, I can absolutely coach someone only looking for help with mindset. Fill out the application so we can chat and see if it’s a good fit.

 

Q: How long are your programs?

A: I require a minimum 12-week commitment.

 

Q: Why 12 weeks?

A: As I’ve mentioned before, change takes time. With no commitment, it’s easy to quit after the first month because it’s hard or progress isn’t as quick as you had hoped.

 

Q: Unlimited email support, does that really mean unlimited?

A: Yep, it sure does. I want to encourage an open line of communication. The more you let me in, the better able I am to help you. If you have a question I don’t want you to feel like you have to wait for our next call to ask. Although if your question is not something specific to your program, I recommend asking in the Facebook group (if you feel comfortable), your fellow Superheros in Training may be able to answer quicker than me.

 

Q: What if the programs too difficult/I don’t like the exercises.

A: Tell me. It’s your program. Consistency is key and you’re not going to be very consistent with a program you don’t look or feel you can’t do.
